Popolocrois 1998: Episodio 21: El Ritual de la Calamidad

Bueno, este episodio esta centrado más que todo en la nueva invención robotica de GamiGami, el Gaminator (y es fácil imaginar de donde salió el nombre...), aunque la pregunta es, ¿si este es tema central, de donde viene el titulo? Lo descubrián al final. Además, este episodio continua con la trama principal, la cual había quedado parada desde el episodio 11, ¡así que no se lo querrán perder!


Popolocrois 2003: Episodio 22: Aventura en el Lemnus

Y aquí tenemos un episidio un poco extraño: la mitad es un recuento de los ultimos 7 episodios, y la otra mitad, deja todo listo para la maravillosa conclusión que veremos en los siguientes 4 episodios; y apropiadamente, se cambia un poco la animación del opening por ello. Además, aquí Luna explica una pequeña parte de la historia de Popolocrois que hará que nunca vuelvan a ver las playas del mismo modo (y es una imagen bastante oscura, francamente hablando).

Es otra canción bastante hermosa; y los efectos de caja de música aumentan su belleza, además de que le dan un toque bastante nostálgico.

Bueno, solo puedo decir que ya terminé otro de los juegos de GUST (subsaga de los Atelier, ya que se le conoce como Proyecto A9), Mana Khemia ~ Alchemists of Al-Revis ~; y he aquí mis impresiones finales.

Historia:

Básicamente se trata de que Vayne Aurelious, un joven que no sabe nada de si mismo; y que vive solo con su gato Sulpher, es invitado a la prestigiosa Academia de Al-Revis, para empezar su carrera como alquimista. Allí Vayne conocerá a varios aliados y enemigos, pero sobre todo, empezara a descubrir los secretos que guarda su pasado. Puede que la historia sea algo blanda al principio, ya que se trata más que todo de los días de escuela de Vayne y compañía, pero al final se torna bien seria (sobre todo porque un pequeño giro argumental que pocos habrán de imaginarse). 9/10

Gráficas:

Las mismas de Ar Tonelico 2 básicamente (aunque este juego fue su predecesor, así que las gráficas vienen de aquí), ya que los personajes son en 2-D pero los entornos son en 3-D; y tienen una buena resolución. Sin embargo, hay algunos puntos que pudieron mejorarse para las animaciones de los personajes. 8/10


Sonido:

Viene del Gust Sound Team (excepto porque Akira Tsuchiya no trabajó en este juego), así que pueden esperar una excelente música y unos cuantos temas vocales. Los efectos de sonido quedan perfectos para los ataques en las batallas y para los sonidos del ambiente a la hora de explorar. 10/10

Gameplay:

Es bastante sencillo, se explora como en cualquier RPG, pero lo divertido es el sistema que se usa para avanzar por la historia. Básicamente, en Al-Revis tienes tres años de academia, divididos en los 12 capítulos que dura el juego. Cada capítulo comienza con un Evento, luego siguen algunas semanas de Clase, después algunas de Tiempo Libre; y al final, se termina con otro evento (aunque hay algunas que rompen este esquema, como ls vacaciones que son solo eventos y tiempo libre). En las clases, puedes escoger de entre varios cursos; y a la final de ese curso, te ponen una Asignación; la cual, dependiendo de como la cumplas, obtienes una calificación: A, B, C o F. Cabe recordar que en cada semana tienes un minimo requerido de unidades de crédito para pasar; y si no lo logras, recibirás un castigo consistente en una tarea extremademente tediosa. Por otra parte, si logras sacar muy buenas notas, lograrás saltarte algunas clases, ya que te las cambian a tiempo libre. En el tiempo libre puedes hacer algunos trabajo para ganar dinero (todos consisten en que sintetices algo o destruyas algun monstruo especifico); o hablar con los miembros de tu grupo para hacer las Character Quest, que dependiendo de a quien se la hagas con más frecuencia, será el final que recibas en el juego; y la otra opción es solo irte a dormir para que la semana pase.

Sistema de Sintesis:

Inicialmente parece que solo es seleccionar los ingredientes (ganados en busquedas, o matando monstruos), pero en realidad hay algo más. Hay una rueda girando al hacer una sintesis y dependiendo de donde acertemos al detenerla, podemos subir o bajar el nivel de eter del objeto que estamos creando, modificando sus cualidades. Esto es importante porque los objetos pierden y ganan Efectos de Eter dependiendo de si sube o baja. También se puede pedirle ayuda a nuestros compañeros de grupo para modificar la sintesis, siendo los resultados desde hacer que la sintesis se haga sola, hasta reducir el nivel de eter a 0. Esto es la síntesis estandar (o sintesis en el Atelier), sin embargo, hay otro tipo de sintesis llamada Athanor Synthesis.

El Athanor es un área que sirve para crear equipamentos (ya que estos no pueden crearse en el Atelier); y a pesar de que aquí no podemos modificar los niveles de eter, si podemos ponerle tres de los efectos de eter que hayan tenido los ingredintes (uno siendo una skill, los otros dos siendo bonus para las estadisticas). Para poder hacer cualquiera de las dos sintesis se requiere disponer de las recetas apropiadas y sus ingredientes (aunque algunas recetas pueden derivarse en otras nuevas si tenemos a un personaje especifico en el grupo a la hora de la sintesis, o si cambiamos algunos de los ingrendientes de la sintesis).

Sistema de Desarrollo:

Aquí no hay niveles de experiencia, ya que todo es controlado por el Grow Book. El Grow Book es un libro que esta lleno de espacios, los cuales se van llenando conforme vayamos sintetizando algunos objetos. Cada espacio puede tener de 1 a 3 esferas, las cuales, al pagar el costo de AP que piden, dan desde bonos en estadisticas hasta skills nuevas. Sobra decir que aqui es imposible exagerar con el powerleveling, ya que si no tienes las recetas necesarias, no podrás seguir llenando los libros (porque cada personaje tiene el suyo propio).

Exploración:

Es por mapas y menues para ir de un lugar a otro en la academia y para entrar en los calabozos. Una vez en los calabozos, se puede cortar hierba, hacer minería, recoger tallos y raíces o recoger fruta para conseguir nuevos ingredientes para las sintesis. En cuanto a los enemigos, los monstruos son visibles en el mapa, asi que puedes decidir si quieres pelear contra ellos, y si los golpeas en vez de tocarlos, recibes el primer turno de la batalla. Los monstruos son representados por babas de diversos colores y tamaños: las rojas normales son los monstruos comunes, las azules normales son monstruos tan débiles que con solo golpearlos en el mapa los matas, las rojas grandes, que son semijefes, y las rojas enormes, que son los jefes. También están los grupos de babas (batallas en serie) y las babas con corona (jefes de un trabajo). Sin embargo, hay que tener cuidado al explorar, ya que el tiempo va pasando al estar en un calabozo; y al caer la noche, todos los monstruos duplican su poder (ganan el doble de estadisticas menos en el HP y la velocidad); y dejan las mismas recompensas; además de que aumentan su velocidad de desplazamiento en el mapa, las babas azules no se pueden destruir por la noche; y resulta una tarea casi imposible huir de una batalla por la noche (si lo logras, por lo menos la mitad de tu grupo habrá sido aniquilada por los enemigos).

Sistema de Batalla:

Es basado en combate por turnos, pero tiene sus propios toques.

Al entrar en batalla tenemos las opciones clasicas (atacar, objetos, magia, huir), sin embargo, el sistema de turnos son como cartas rodando por un mazo, lo que permite que algunos de los personajes puedan manipularlas (ya sea colocando hechizos que se repiten cuando llega a la carta, o usando habilidades que requieren de un turno de carga). Tenemos tres personajes como línea frontal, pero también, más adelante en el juego, podemos asignar tres personajes en la retaguardia, para que puedan entrar y conectar un golpe adicional al que acaba de dar uno de los personajes, o para proteger a un aliado que esta por recibir un golpe, haciendo que la batalla sea más dinámica; y se pone mejor aún porque más adelante los personaje ganan acceso a sus propias habilidades para cuando los convocan desde la retaguardia. Los personajes de la retaguardia requieren un pequeño descanso entre cada uso, así que no podemos estar cambiando a lo loco, además del que dejarlos atrás tiene su punto util en que les regenera el SP (puntos de magia) haciendo el juego más estrategico. Y como punto extra, después de un cierto punto del juego, si se envia a los tres supporters (retaguardia) a dar un golpe; y Vayne es el último en darlo, se ejecutará un Variable Strike, que ocasiona mucho más daño. El Variable Strike es poderoso, pero como punto malo, requiere que los seis personajes esten vivos, y obligatoriamente Vayne debe ser el ultimo support enviado para que se lleve a cabo.

El hacer los combos y demás sirve también para llenar una barra que esta hasta abajo en la pantalla, llamada la barra de Burst. Se llena golpeando a los enemigos (aunque se llena más rápido golpeando a los enemigos en su punto débil); y se baja cuando un aliado muere. Cuando se llena, se entra en Burst Mode (o Burst Variation), en el cual todos los ataques ganan potencia y se aumenta la probabilidad de golpes críticos. El Burst Mode termina cuando la barra se vacía (nada más a través de las acciones de los aliados, ya que en el Burst Mode, hacer cualquier cosa en un turno disminuye la barra).

Más adelante en el juego, se activa una segunda barra llamada Finisher Burst, la cual se llena cumpliendo una condición en el Burst Mode (puede ser curar a un aliado, buffearlo, recibir daño, entre otras); y cuando se llena, todos los personajes ganan acceso a su mejor ataque, el Finisher Burst, que es un ataque extremademente poderoso y espectacular; el cual cuando se ejecuta, vacía ambas barras de Burst de golpe. El Burst normal no se puede guardar, pero el Finisher Burst si se puede, así que es aconsejable tenerlo cargado antes de entrar a una batalla de jefe.

Conclusiones del Gameplay: El sistema de sintesis y el Grow Book son bien adictivos; además de que el sistema de combate nunca hace las batallas aburridas, ya que hay que estar siempre al pendiente de lo que ocurre en pantalla, no sea que falles un Variable Strike o pierdas un Finisher Burst por un descuido (ya que solo tienes 1 segundo para llamar a un supporter antes de que el juego siga). 10/10

Es un muy buen juego, la historia es entretenida; los personajes son carismáticos y la verdad, el sistema de juego es lo bastante adictivo como para intentar sacar los 8 finales que tiene (uno con cada personaje, y otro que es solo para Vayne, también conocido como el final malo), ya que el juego tiene un modo de New Game + y un calabozo bonus lleno de tesoros para quienes quieran intentar pasar sus horrores (en especial el glitch que hace que se tranquen el juego al pelear con monstruos normales dentro de ese calabozo).
